Telangana power staff seek amendment to Bill
Deccan Chronicle, 2 January 2014

Hyderabad: The Telangana Electricity Employee JAC on Wednesday sought an amendment to the Telangana Bill to address the issues arising out of the proposed bifurcation in the power sector in Andhra Pradesh.

“The proposed bill does not have any provision for dissolution of the corporations. We have proposed an amendment to incorporate a provision for this and formation of separate corporations for successive states. Since almost all projects have legal issues, the involvement of two states and a single corporation will be difficult from an administrative point of view,” said K. Raghu, coordinator of the Telangana Electricity Employees JAC. (మరింత…)

Andhra bureaucracy gets down to division process
Chief minister pleads for a united state
Mohammed Siddique, Gulf News December 22, 2013

Hyderabad Even as the opponents of Telangana state were trying their best to delay the process, the state’s official machinery seems to have got down to the exercise of bifurcation.

While the Chief Minister N. Kiran Kumar Reddy called on the President Pranab Mukherji at Rashtrapati Nilayam in Hyderabad and reportedly pleaded with him to keep Andhra Pradesh united, the state bureaucracy was busy collecting the necessary data including the details of assets, liabilities and workforce from different departments and the public sector undertakings.

In a significant move the General Administration Department has also issued instructions to the employees to provide details of their birth place, date of joining and pay scale, among other things. It is understood that the services of the government employees will be allocated to the state where they were born.
This was one of the major demands of those who want a separate Telangana state, that those born in Andhra and Rayalaseema, will have to move to residuary state of Andhra Pradesh and only those born in Telangana will be accepted as the employees of Telangana government. (మరింత…)

Only 13.5% Telangana staff in judiciary
Deccan Chronicle, 18 December 2013

Hyderabad: The Telangana judiciary will face a huge staff crunch after bifurcation because of the historically lower recruitment in the region.

According to the bifurcation Bill, the strength of the Telangana and the residuary state judiciary will be finalised based on population. This means the Telangana judiciary will get 42 per cent of the total jobs.

Statistics show that Telangana has only 13.5 per cent jobs in the High Court (see table), the rest going to Seemandhra. (మరింత…)

Clamour for Rayala-Telangana gets shriller
TNN, November 7, 2013

Hyderabad: The demand for setting up Rayala-Telangana received a sudden and unexpected momentum on Wednesday with several leaders independently pitching for it. Addressing a press conference here, MIM president and Hyderabad MP Asaduddin Owaisi said it was his party’s ‘firm opinion’ that Kurnool and Anantapur districts should be added to the inevitable Telangana state ‘in the interest of justice.’ “This will resolve the water-sharing disputes between the two states in addition to giving the Seemandhra and Telangana regions an equitable representation of 21 seats each in the Lok Sabha and nine seats each in the Rajya Sabha,” Owaisi said. The MIM has already sent a memorandum to this effect to the Group of Ministers on Telangana, he said.

Meanwhile, in Anantapur district, Guntakal MLA K Madhusudhan Gupta launched a signature campaign seeking the inclusion of Anantapur and Kurnool districts in the new Telangana state. “Four leaders, JC Diwakar Reddy (MLA), G Tippe Swamy, Y Sivaramireddy (MLCs) and myself have signed the memorandum. We are trying to get the signatures of Anantapur MP A Venkatramana Reddy and ministers S Sailajanath and N Raghuveera Reddy. I am hopeful that all the leaders will sign it. We sent one memorandum to the GoM on Tuesday and will be forwarding another memo in a day or two,” Gupta told TOI on Wednesday. (మరింత…)

Hyderabad should belong to Telangana: MIM

IANS Hyderabad, Nov 6: The Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (MIM) has demanded the formation of a Greater Telangana state by clubbing two districts of Rayalaseema with the proposed state and Hyderabad as its unconditional capital.

The party has urged the Group of Ministers (GoM) constituted by the centre over bifurcation of Andhra Pradesh, to form separate Greater Telangana state comprising 10 districts of Telangana and Anantapur and Kunrool districts of Rayalaseema.
Ruling out any compromise on Hyderabad as the capital of the new state, MIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi also opposed the proposal for central control over law and order and other matters in Hyderabad.

He told reporters here Wednesday that Hyderabad should be unconditional capital of Telangana state. (మరింత…)
