All-party meeting a political farce, says Telangana Rashtra Samithi
TNN, Dec 6, 2012

HYDERABAD: Terming the UPA government’s move to convene an all-party meeting on Telangana as a political farce, the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) and BJP as well as the YSR Congress on Wednesday demanded the introduction of a bill on the formation of the separate state in Parliament.

“Anyone can understand that calling for an all-party meeting at this juncture is an ad hoc step taken by the Centre just to avert the crisis emerging ahead of the government facing voting in the Lok Sabha on the FDI issue. We demand that the government move a bill on Telangana in Parliament as there has been enough discussion on the issue. There is no necessity for an all-party meeting at this juncture,” said Etala Rajender, TRS floor leader in the assembly.

Expressing a similar view, the BJP said the UPA government must move the bill on Telangana in Parliament as calling an all-party meeting was a misleading and time – buying tactic. “If the Congress is earnest on Telangana, the Centre must move the bill in Parliament. When all the stakeholders including the political parties have already made clear their stand on Telangana, the BJP feels there is no necessity for an all-party meeting,” said G Kishan Reddy, state BJP president. CPI state secretary Narayana said his party would take part in the all-party meeting, but he urged the Congress to come clear on Telangana before the meeting. (మరింత…)

New front to checkmate TRS?
Ravi Reddy, The Hindu, Hyderabad, December 2, 2012

A few Congress leaders preparing ground for launching the front

Efforts to forge a new political front to check the influence of Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) as well as that of the YSR Congress, which is gaining ground in Telangana, have begun among a section of the Congress leaders.

Strong indications were given by some Ministers and MLAs from the Congress and the TDP that the ground was being prepared for launching the Front to fight the next general elections. Already, preliminary discussions were being held among Congress leaders who are here to attend the Assembly session.

Once this idea takes shape, some Congress MPs, MLAs and Ministers might quit their posts to launch the Front. The Front could also provide a platform to TDP leaders inimical to the TRS and the YSR Congress. Under these circumstances, they would keep the TRS at an arm’s length. (మరింత…)

Uncertainty on Telangana creation persists
PTI, October 24,2012

HYDERABAD: Uncertainty over creation of a new Telangana state persists as the Congress high command and the Centre continued discussions on the issue.

“The process of negotiations is continuing and no decision will be possible till a consensus is arrived at (on the demand for bifurcation of Andhra Pradesh),” is reportedly the refrain of Congress leaders.

A group of ministers from Telangana region who held “talks” with the Congress top brass in New Delhi last week were given to understand that the party would take its time before announcing anything concrete on the statehood issue.

“We may have to wait till the end of Parliament’s Budget session next year,” one of the ministers, who was part of the group, said on his return here.

Given its preoccupation with too many other issues, including the forthcoming elections in Gujarat and Himachal Pradesh, the Congress leadership was not in a position to focus its attention on Telangana, he pointed out. (మరింత…)

TIMES NEWS NETWORK, December 11, 2011

New Delhi: The possibility of the Congress high command pushing for the constitution of a Telangana Regional Council as well as similar boards for the two other regions gathered momentum here on Saturday after chief minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy held talks with party president Sonia Gandhi and AICC general secretary Ghulam Nabi Azad.

Significantly, former minister from Telangana and MLC D Srinivas, who has been summoned by the high command, met the chief minister at AP Bhavan on Saturday afternoon. No question of accepting package: Harish Rao

Special Correspondent, The Hindu December 11, 2011

TRS denies having been consulted by Congress on the Telangana issue

The Telangana Rashtra Samiti (TRS) has denied that it was consulted by the Congress high command in a bid to resolve the separate Telangana issue.

Talking to mediapersons here on Saturday, the party MLA T. Harish Rao condemned reports that the Congress leaders in New Delhi were in touch with the TRS president K. Chandrasekhar Rao. He warned the Congress that the TRS will not remain quiet if it came up with any package or development council or the States Reorganisation Commission as an alternative to statehood. (మరింత…)
