Seema leaders seek new state
August 27, 2012 Deccan Chronicle, Hyderabad

Leaders from Rayalaseema on Sunday demanded a separate state in the event of a Telangana state being formed stating that they could not remain with Coastal Andhra. In a meeting held in a private function hall in Khairatabad, organised by former TD legislator Byreddy Rajasekhar Reddy, the leaders decided to form a Rayalaseema Joint Action Committee on the lines of the TJAC for Telangana. It was also decided to form JACs for all professional sections of the society to fight against injustice to the region as well as for separate statehood.

Mr Byreddy Rajasekhar Reddy announced that he would undertake a 40-day padayatra covering all the villages in the four districts of Rayalaseema soon. He also demanded TD chief N. Chandrababu Naidu mention the backwardness of the Rayalaseema region in the proposed letter on the Telangana statehood issue in the first week of September. (మరింత…)

‘TRS not an appendage to Congress’
Express News Service, 13 November 2010

NEW DELHI: Telangana Rashtra Samiti (TRS) chief K Chandrasekhar Rao on Friday reiterated that his party would support the Congress in its endeavour to secure a Telangana State but took objection to reports that sought to portray him and the TRS as an appendage to the Congress.

Addressing a press conference here after conferring with Justice BN Srikrishna Committee member-secretary VK Duggal, the TRS supremo blew hot and cold at mediapersons for what he called distortion of his last night’s statement but finally said the same thing – he and his party would strengthen the hands of the Congress.

“When I said I would strengthen the hands of the Congress, what I meant was that my party would support the Congress when it moves a bill in Parliament for formation of a Telangana state. What would you expect me to do? Run away without supporting the bill?” Chandrasekhar Rao asked. He said he wanted the Telangana state to have the entire land that had been merged with the rest of Andhra Pradesh on Oct 31, 1956. (మరింత…)
