KCR lists ‘Telangana Traitors’
The New Indian Express, Hyderabad 2 October, 2013
Reiterating that those who oppose Telangana statehood are traitors, TRS chief K Chandrashekar Rao said he will not say it once, but lakhs of times because it is true.
Speaking to mediapersons here on Tuesday, he found fault with CPI state secretary K Narayana and BJP leader Bandaru Dattatreya for criticising his comments during the Sakala Jana Bheri. He wondered why the two leaders find no fault with those opposing Telangana and criticising him and the movement constantly in a foul language.
“It has rather become a fashion for them to find fault with whatever KCR says. When I said ‘Lankalo Puttina Valantha Rakshasule (Those born in Lanka are Rakshasa), I was merely quoting a popular saying in Telangana. Chandrababu Naidu had taken a U-turn on Telangana; YS Vijayamma who had paid tributes to Telangana martyrs, now opposes Telangana; TG Venkatesh proposes a private army; and Ashok Babu says they will rather kill than commit suicide. Are they not traitors of Telangana? I fail to understand what culture and what manners dictate to insult me and Sonia Gandhi in most foul languages?” he asked. TRS chief wondered why Jagan’s sister Sharmila who had compared Hyderabad to Pakistan, still wants to be in Hyderabad. He also took exception to the comments against the tribals of Bhadrachalam in the context of Polavaram project.
On Jagan’s announcement to hold a public meeting in Hyderabad, he said Telangana votaries will oppose the meeting and obstruct it. On the possibility of chief minister N Kiran Reddy being sacked before Oct 6 as predicted by him, he said what information he had is what he had said in the public meeting. Asked if there is a chance of the President’s rule in the state, he did not rule it out.
