Nagam promises many wonders in the coming days
Express News Services, Sep 10, 2011
HYDERABAD: Nagam Janardhan Reddy, who quit the TDP along with three fellow rebels MLAs on Thursday, says he’s not going to be another Devender Goud, the former no. 2 of Chandrababu Naidu who floated a Telangana party but came a cropper in the 2009 elections.
In an interview with Express, Janardhan Reddy dismissed rumours that he is all set to sail with Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy.
Excerpts from the interview:
Some TDP leaders have predicted that you will meet the same fate as Devender Goud after quitting the TDP. How do you react to this?
This too is a campaign started by Chandrababu Naidu’s loyalists and the TDP’s so-called Telangana leaders.
The TDP chief is trying to prevent his MLAs from quitting the party by pointing out Devender Goud’s failure.
But they should also recall the experience of K Chandrasekhar Rao, A Ramnarayana Reddy and C Ramachandraiah, who quit the TDP in the past.
There are dozens of organisations fighting for a separate Telangana. Is there a need for Telangana Nagara?
Yes, there is.
All the Telangana political parties and organisations have some limitations or other. We conducted several meetings and found there is a need for us to intensify the movement.
Will your organisation become a political party in future?
I cannot say yes or no right now. That will be decided only at the time of elections. Currently, we are concentrating on achieving unity among all Telangana organisations and political parties.
Is Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy behind your organisation?
That’s not true. The loyalists of Chandrababu Naidu are spreading such rumours. When Y S Rajasekhara Reddy was chief minister I fought against his policies in and outside the Assembly. Can anyone imagine that I will take the support of his son? I have no need to elaborate on this.
I will prove my sincerity before the people. We are ready to sacrifice our political life for Telangana.
How have TDP MLAs respond to your resignation?
Many wonders will take place in the TDP in the coming days. Several more MLAs will quit the party and they may join us. The TDP chief is anti-Telangana.
The Telangana Telugu Desam Forum is a puppet in his hands.
Naidu may give party tickets and money to his loyalists in the next elections but the people of Telangana are not ready to vote for such MLAs.
TDP MLAs say they are ready to submit resignations again. They also urged the
Telangana Congress leadership come forward to do so. How do you see this?
If Naidu’s loyalists have any commitment to Telangana, they should first quit as MLAs. Why do they want to link their resignations to Congress MLAs? Is there any understanding between the Congress and the TDP on Telangana?
What are your future plans?
We will intensify the T stir.
We will resume our T Nagara and conduct a public meeting on Friday at Achampet in Mahabubnagar.
