AP Court asks police to file case against TRS chief
The Hindu, Vijayawada, May 2, 2011
A local court today ordered the police to register a case against Telangana Rastra Samiti (TRS) President K Chandrasekhar Rao for his allegedly derogatory remarks against Brahmins of Andhra region.
Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Prasada Rao gave the direction on a private complaint filed by Govindaraju Srinivas.
In the complaint, Mr. Srinivas stated the TRS chief, speaking at a function in Hyderabad last month, had made objectionable comments about Andhra Brahmins.
His remarks have hurt the sentiments of lakhs of Brahmins in the region. Such statements are unconstitutional and they promote regional feelings among a community, he said. The TRS leader’s utterances may cause disintegration of the society, Mr. Srinivas maintained.
After verifying the merits of the complaint, the judge asked the police to register a case against the former Union Minister and investigate the matter.
