TDP to move no-trust motion in next session
ENS, The New Indian Express, May 28, 2011

HYDERABAD: The Telugu Desam’s three-day annual conclave Mahanadu, which began here on Friday, sent out a loud warning to the Kiran Kumar Reddy government as well as YS Jagan Mohan Reddy while being more vocal on the Telangana issue without abandoning its two-eye philosophy.

Party chief N Chandrababu Naidu, in his inaugural address which lasted nearly one and a half hours, said that his party would move a no-confidence motion against the state government and that it was not dragging its feet as claimed by YS Jagan Mohan Reddy.

“We are not hesitating to move the no-confidence motion. We had moved no- confidence motions in the past. From the beginning our stand has been very clear, “ he said in an oblique reference to Jagan Mohan Reddy’s allegation that he was not moving a no-confidence motion only to protect the Kiran Kumar Reddy government. We are ready to quit for Telangana: Dayakar Rao
Express News Service, The New Indian Express, May 26, 2011

KARIMNAGAR: Telangana Telugu Desam Forum (TTDF) has thrown a challenge to JAC chairman M Kodandaram to fix a date so that all the 36 TDP MLAs, three MPs and MLCs from Telangana region will submit their resignations.

Addressing the first meeting of the TTDF here on Wednesday, forum convenor E Dayakar Rao said: “We have faith in Kodandaram. He should fix a date. We will come to OU or speaker’s office to submit our resignations.” But Kodandaram should declare Congress, TRS and BJP leaders traitors of Telangana, if elected representatives of the respective parties failed to submit their resignations, Dayakar Rao said.

He also mooted the proposal to field the kin of 600 people who committed suicide for the cause of T state in the forthcoming local body elections. (మరింత…)

Second SRC not applicable to Telangana, Says DS
Express News Service, The New Indian Express May 26, 2011

HYDERABAD: APCC president D Srinivas has asserted that the second SRC would not be applicable to Telangana since the UPA government had made a statement in December 2009 only after thoroughly studying the issue. “How will the second SRC come into picture even after Union home minister P Chidambaram had made a statement on Telangana issue?” he argued. Nagam’s success forces TRS to act
May 11, 2011 DC Correspondent, Hyderabad

Stung by the successful “Telangana nagara” convened by the Telugu Desam MLA, Mr Nagam Janardhan Reddy, the TRS has put its plans for the next phase of the agitation, in June, into high gear.

The TRS chief, Mr K. Chandrasekhar Rao, has convened the party state executive on May 12 to chalk out an action plan to pressurise the Centre to carve out a separate state and intensify the agitation if no action is initiated by May-end.

Even though the TRS, Congress and T-Joint Action Committee boycotted Dr Janardhan Reddy’s maiden meeting in Nagarkurnool, it was a coup of sorts and attracted a large number of people. (మరింత…)

Nagam’s ‘T Nagara’ draws flak
TNN, May 11, 2011

HYDERABAD: The `Telangana Nagara’ organised by senior TDP leader N Janardhan Reddy at Nagarkurnool on Monday created a fracas in the party on Tuesday as several leaders, including a few from Telangana like M Narsimhulu demanded disciplinary action against Nagam for taking independent decisions.

However, some Telangana TDP leaders like R Prakash Reddy and E Dayakar Rao were of the opinion that no action should be taken against Nagam since he was fighting for a separate state. “The TDP is not against separate Telangana,” they said. (మరింత…)

More paramilitary forces for city
TNN | May 11, 2011

HYDERABAD: Apprehending another outbreak of unrest owing to the proposed re-launch of Telangana movement by various political parties, the state police has sought for deployment of at least 60 companies of paramilitary forces in Hyderabad and the other T districts over the next two weeks.

In response, the Union home ministry has sent 19 of the 27 central companies that were sent to Kadapa for poll duty while the remaining companies were dispatched to Tamil Nadu ahead of the counting of votes on May 13. A decision on the state’s request with regard to remaining companies is expected soon, state government sources said.

Before the Srikrishna Committee report was made public in January this year, the Centre had granted 60 companies of central forces to the state to handle the agitation. But they were re-deployed in five states which went to polls. (మరింత…)

Nagam’s meet moots new JAC to fight polls
VV Balakrishna, Express News Service, 10 May 2011

NAGARKURNOOL: In what is being perceived as an attempt to dare his leader N Chandrababu Naidu and TRS chief K Chandrasekhara Rao, TDP Telangana leader Nagam Janardhan Reddy on Monday said the legislators regardless of the party they belong to should come out in support of Telangana or people would dump them in history’s dust-bin.
Janardhan Reddy organised a massive public meeting at the headquarters of his home Nagarkurnool constituency without the Telugu Desam flags.

Kalawakurthy MLA Jaipal Yadav, an ardent supporter of Janardhan Reddy, brought out a proposal for formation of a Joint Action Committee to contest all the 119 assembly seats in Telangana region in the 2014 elections, indicating the possibility of a new political formation parallel to the TDP and the TRS. Telangana men in all parties pray for Jagan win

MVK Sastry
Express New Service, 7 May 2011

HYDERABAD: More than YS Jagan Mohan Reddy supporters, it is surprisingly the TRS, the BJP and the Telangana leaders in the Congress and the Telugu Desam who want late YSR’s son win the Kadapa Lok Sabha by election hands down.

This may sound strange but they have their own reasoning.

They think that if Jagan Mohan Reddy wins the election with a massive majority, the Congress will stand discredited. Not wanting any further damage to the party in the Telangana region, Congress president Sonia Gandhi may decide in favour of granting Telangana.

Since the beginning the TRS, which is in the forefront of the movement for Telangana state, has been covertly supporting the YSR Congress regardless of the fact that Jagan Mohan Reddy held a placard in Parliament in support of integrated state.

Similar is the thinking among the Telangana leaders of the Congress and the TRS. (మరింత…)

‘Beef fest’ leads to tension on Eflu campus
TNN, May 2, 2011

HYDERABAD: Tension prevailed on English and Foreign Languages University (Eflu) campus on Sunday following the attack a day before on dalit students of the university by Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) activists. On Saturday, about 15 dalit students were attacked by ABVP activists for planning to conduct a ‘Beef Festival’ on campus.

According to members of Dalit Adivasi Bahujan Minority Students’ Association (DABMSA) and Telangana Students’ Association (TSA) who jointly planned to conduct the festival from Saturday with the support of almost all student unions on campus, the ABVP activists barged into the campus kitchen and threw down the vessels in which the beef was cooked.
