Srikrishna report to be 600-page tome
V Anand Kumar, Indian Express, 26 Dec 2010
NEW DELHI: Keeping its promise to stick to the given timeframe, the Srikrishna Committee will submit its report to the Centre on the Telangana tangle at 5 pm on Dec. 31. According to sources, Union home minister P Chidambaram has given an appointment to the committee on the evening of Dec. 31 to submit the report.
Sources said the committee’s member-secretary V K Duggal will brief the media on Jan. 4 on the salient features of the report.
Sources said the committee has finalized a 600-page report on Friday evening after a Herculean task of going through 1.25 lakh representations from separatist and integrationist groups.
Sources said the report would be a mere prism of the representations and that it has not recommended any clear-cut solution to the Telangana tangle. They said the committee had analysed several issues such as water, economy, share of resources and gave several options for the Centre in order to help in preparing a roadmap for the future.
