Telangana TDP book entire train for Delhi trip
Express News Service, 17 October 2010
HYDERABAD: Buoyed up by the overwhelming response to their train journey to Delhi scheduled on Ocotber 25, the Telangana TDP leaders have now decided to hire an entire train instead of two coaches which they had planned earlier.
The Telangana TDP Forum (TTDPF) leaders will leave Hyderabad on October 23 and reach Delhi the next day.
They have planned to stage a dharna before AICC president Sonia Gandhi’s residence on Oct 25 if she failed to given an appointment to them for submitting a memorandum on separate Telangana.
The TD leaders booked one second class A/C coach, three 3tier AC coaches and 14 second class coaches after paying around Rs 25 lakh in advance to the railways.
The forum earlier planned to hire two coaches for 100 important leaders. But witnessing the enthusiasm of secondrung leaders in the region, the TDP leaders have decided to hire an entire train having 14 coaches.
According to latest reports, over 1,500 party leaders and activists will leave for Delhi.
TDP president N Chandrababu Naidu on Saturday held a meeting with TTDPF convenor N Janardhan Reddy and other leaders, including T Devender Goud, K Srihari and M Narasimhlu, of the region at NTR Bhavan and reportedly discussed about the Telangana TDP agitation.
Telangana leaders asked Naidu to flag off their train at Secunderabad railway station, sources said. But it is learnt that Naidu refused to this proposal.
Asked about this, TTDPF convenor N Janardhan Reddy said flagging off the train never figured in their meeting.
The TDP activists are also planning to stage demonstrations demanding carving out separate Telangana at all mandal headquarters on October 21.
After returing from Delhi, TDP activists have planned agitations across Telangana from October 27. The TDP leaders will demand introduction of a Bill on Telangana in the Parliament at the dharna planned before AICC president Sonia Gandhi’s residence.
After their return from Delhi, the constituency incharges and mandal party presidents can tour their respective areas with increased confidence, the party leaders felt.
