Telangana solution must be palatable to all: TDP
Express News Service, 26 Jun 2010 11:12:11 AM IST
HYDERABAD: The issue of statehood for Telangana should be settled amicably and to the satisfaction of the people of all the regions, Telugu Desam president N Chandrababu Naidu has said. Without elaborating on what he meant, he asserted that there was no ambiguity in his stance.
Speaking to media persons here today, Naidu said people from all regions of the state supported him and made him chief minister for nine long years. He would therefore treat both the regions as a pair of his eyes, he said and recalled that the TDP had always stood for the Telugu pride as a whole. It was the Congress which created the division among the people for its survival, he alleged and asked his party-men to act in accordance with the aspirations of the people of their respective regions.
Referring to by-elections to the Assembly in the Telangana region he said the TDP was forced by the Congress to contest the by-elections. As a political party the TDP had no other option, he said.
Holding the Congress responsible for the Telangana row, he said that since Congress leaders were claiming from housetops that only their party could deliver a Telangana state, it should explain its stand in clear terms.
Coming down heavily on the Telangana Rashtra Samithi, the TDP president alleged that there was a tacit understanding between the Congress and the TRS for the ensuing by-polls. “The very fact that the TRS leaders are not saying anything against AICC chairperson Sonia Gandhi or other national leaders but continuing their onslaught on the TDP amply proves that both the Congress and TRS are hand in glove.”
Naidu said his party’s strategy for the by-polls was drawn and the party leaders and cadre were all geared up.
Answering a query, Chandrababu Naidu said the TRS or any other party or individual had no right to ask the TDP not to contest the elections. Simialarly, no one need tell him whether to campaign or not, he said
