Cong opts out of JAC, to fight for Telangana on its own
Hyderabad, Feb 19 (PTI) The ruling Congress today snapped its association with the all-party Telangana Joint Action Committee (JAC) and announced its decision to organise an agitation for separate statehood on its own.
“We are forming a Congress Action Committee. From today onwards, we would conduct our activities by appointing committees at village, district and state levels. We appeal to the party cadre to work as per the call of Congress,” senior Congress MLA K Jana Reddy told reporters here.
He was speaking after a meeting of Congress MPs, MLAs, MLCs and other public representatives from Telangana region.
The Congress Action Committee would take the message into the people that Congress is sincerely working for realising the statehood goal and also for conveying the people’s sentiment to Sri Krishna Committee appointed by the Centre.
