The Telangana Joint Action Committee, comprising of all political parties and a large number of people’s organisations has set a deadline of January 28 for the central government to announce a time-bound program for the formation of Telangana state.

“If it does not happen, then all the MPs, MLAs, MLCs, municipal chairmen, zilla parishad chairmen and other elected representatives will force the acceptance of their resignations”, Professor Kodanda Ram, convenor TJAC announced on Tuesday night.

Speaking to the media after the meeting of the steering committee of TJAC, which discussed the issue of acceptance of resignations, Ram said that all the elected representatives to the level of members of mandal parishad and gram panchayat will force the acceptance of their resignations to create a political crisis.

The TJAC also took several other decisions to continue the agitation for Telangana by organising relay hunger strikes in Hyderabad and other nine districts of the region from January 16 to January 28.

“In the relay hunger strike in Hyderabad, every day four or five MLAs will sit on fast,” he said. Zilla parishad chairmen will lead the hunger strike in the respective district headquarters.

The committee has asked all the residents of Telangana to hoist the Telangana flag on their homes, carry Jai Telangana slogans on their vehicles and put Telangana on their vehicle number plates. It has also asked all the government employees of Telangana to wear black badges while attending their duties.

It has also urged the people of Telangana to celebrate Sankranti festival on January 14 by drawing Telangana graffiti before in front of their homes.
