KCR back, to brief party politburo
Express News Service: 12 Jan 2010
HYDERABAD: Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) president K Chandrasekhara Rao returned here today after a six-day stay in Delhi where he had gone on January 5 to participate in the all-party meeting on Telangana.
He arrived late in the evening and drove straight to the party office. Speaking to reporters at the party office, T Harish Rao said the president would brief the party politburo tomorrow on what had transpired in the national capital.
Rao, who met Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, Home Minister P Chidambaram and Union Minister AK Antony and discussed the Telangana issue with them, has maintained a low profile as the Centre had sought his help in restoring peace in the State, Harish Rao said, adding that the politburo would discuss the future course of action.
The TRS’ proposals would be placed before the political Joint Action Committee on Telangana, he said.
The TRS legislator said Chandrasekhara Rao had stayed back in Delhi expecting the statement that the home minister had promised to make after discussing the issue with the prime minister and the Union Cabinet. After waiting for the last four days, Rao has returned to the State capital to chalk out the party’s future programme, warning the Centre that it should not take the TRS for granted and adding that the people of Telangana would not keep quiet if the delay continued.
Reacting to a question on resignations by MLAs, Harish Rao pointed out that his partymen had thought nothing of resigning – indeed, they had done it before – as what mattered most to them was the aspirations of the people of the region.
